Overview
At NEO KVL Hotel, they have carefully preserved the character of the old leather factory while adding advanced and refined design elements to bring this building back to life as a state-of-the-art refurbished hotel.
The hotel in Oisterwijk has its own unique charm and truly understands the art of living. It offers a grand yet cosy atrium, 68 thoughtfully designed rooms, the Neon Restaurant, a Skybar, and fitness and wellness facilities all in one place.
Key Issues
- When cleaning the bathrooms, the hotel noticed a problem with limescale in several areas, particularly the showerheads, shower screens, and tiles.
- Without proper maintenance, the limescale build-up (and the resulting bioļ¬lm) in the water system would lead to higher levels of bacteria, incl. Legionella.
- The heat exchangers/caloriļ¬ers were not performing as efficiently as they could be due to limescale on the heat transfer surfaces.
- There was signiļ¬cant evidence of limescale on ļ¬xtures and ļ¬ttings throughout the plant room, particularly where there were small leaks.

Our Solution
Following a site survey, it was decided to install one Sidon IntegroTM 3 on the cold water main and two Sidon IntegroTM 2ās on the hot water returns. The results were then monitored for 90 days.
Environmental Benefits
As well as signiļ¬cant cost savings and the other beneļ¬ts detailed above (improved Legionella control, equipment more straightforward to clean, etc.), this hotel will achieve the following environmental beneļ¬ts:

- Extended life of water-related equipment such as pumps, boilers, and heat exchangers and improved eļ¬iciency of heating and cooling equipment.
- Reduced failures in equipment due to scale and corrosion, meaning decreased engineer visits and reduced demand for spare parts.
- Improved hot water eļ¬iciency.
- Significantly reduced detergent and chemical use.
Summary & ResultsĀ
Initially, debris and deposits in specific endpoints of the water system were spotted as they were flushed out of the system. This lasted for a few weeks and acted as an excellent indicator of the technologyās effectiveness.
After around 30-45 days, the deposits stopped, and it was concluded that the limescale had been removed from the system. There were no further Legionella detections The cleaners have commented that cleaning the shower screens and surfaces in the rooms is easier, and maintenance has advised that fewer replacement flush valves are required in the toilets.
All involved deemed the installation highly successful and agreed conclusively that the IntegroTM system works to remove existing limescale and prevent future formation throughout the hot and cold-water systems, critical equipment, and appliances.
There is a signiļ¬cant return on investment with savings on energy bills, and the hotel is experiencing additional beneļ¬ts such as improved guest experience and a more positive environmental impact.
