Overview
The ABaC Hotel in Barcelona is a luxurious boutique hotel located in the quiet neighbourhood of Sarria-Sant Gervasi. It offers elegant rooms and suites, a spa, and boasts a renowned three-star Michelin restaurant, led by chef Jordi Cruz.
The hotel had been using a salt-based water softener for the entire facility, resulting in multiple associated expenses that the owners sought to eliminate to reduce costs. Additionally, the water softener was not addressing all of the problems typical of a hard water area.
Key Issues
- The customer incurred high energy costs due to the operation of large water pumps after the cold water tank. The tank's sole purpose was to store water that had been treated by the water softener
- Salt expenses for the water softener reached up to €400 per month
- They regularly needed to replace the float switch in the spa's steam generator because it became completely scaled up, costing between €100 and €200
- The rain effect showerhead nozzles required intensive maintenance to stay free of limescale
Our Solution
After inspecting the property, it was decided to install two lntegro™ units at critical points in the hot and cold water systems, aiming to replace the water softener and discontinue the use of the tank and pumps. An lntegro 3 unit was installed at the cold water mains supplying the entire building, while an lntegro™ 2 unit was installed in the hot water return pipe.
Results
Immediately after installation, the customer bypassed the tanks and ceased using the water softener and water pumps. After two months, they confirmed that operations throughout the hotel continued to run smoothly.
