Sidon Water and Basic-Fit Partner to Tackle Hard Water and Enhance Energy Efficiency Across European Fitness Estate

July 2025 – Sidon Water is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Basic-Fit, one of Europe’s leading fitness chains, to roll out an innovative water treatment and monitoring solution aimed at combating hard water issues, reducing energy consumption, and improving the member experience across over 1,600 gym locations.

Basic-Fit, operating across France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and Spain, has been proactive in addressing the recurring issue of limescale build-up in hot water systems, a common challenge in fitness facilities. This issue, if left unmanaged, can contribute to higher energy consumption, equipment wear, and increased maintenance needs. While previous solutions, such as salt-based softeners and magnetic conditioners, were trialled, they proved less suitable for the scale and operational demands of Basic-Fit’s extensive network.

In response, Sidon Water introduced its chemical-free, salt-free Integro™ Water Restructuring Technology, which restructures water at the molecular level to prevent and eliminate limescale while enhancing water quality and bacteriological safety. The solution supports Basic-Fit’s sustainability goals and operational demands.

“This partnership represents a new benchmark in sustainable facility management,” said a spokesperson from Sidon Water. “By combining innovative water treatment with intelligent monitoring, we’re helping Basic-Fit future-proof its infrastructure while delivering tangible environmental and operational benefits.”

A three-month pilot across three Belgian sites—Kunstlaan (Brussels), Wemmel, and Turnhout—produced compelling results:

  • Kunstlaan: Existing limescale visibly broke down, restoring system efficiency and reducing energy usage.
  • Turnhout: No limescale formed on new heating elements; reliability significantly improved.
  • Wemmel: Maintenance issues were fully resolved, with zero cylinder failures reported.

Following the pilot’s success, Basic-Fit has committed to a full-scale rollout of the Sidon Water solution across its estate, beginning with 100 locations in Q3 2025.

As part of this expansion, Sidon Water will also deploy its Advanced Monitoring & Management Solution in partnership with Nomad Controls. Designed specifically for multi-site operators, the system delivers real-time performance alerts, energy monitoring, and remote diagnostics, allowing Basic-Fit to:

  • Optimise hot water production
  • Reduce site visits and maintenance costs
  • Extend equipment lifespan
  • Maintain a consistent hot water supply
  • Drive measurable reductions in carbon emissions

The collaboration exemplifies how smart technology can drive energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance the customer experience—setting new standards for the fitness industry.
