Boise Hunter Homes – Residential Water Conditioning Without Salt

The Challenge

Dry Creek Ranch (DCR), a growing residential development in Idaho, faced mounting challenges related to traditional salt-based water softeners. While many homeowners relied on these systems to combat hard water, their widespread use was creating a strain on the local wastewater treatment system—raising long-term environmental and financial concerns for the community.

John S. Zellmer, a retired civil engineer with over 35 years of residential development experience, recognized the need for a better solution. In the interest of his neighbors and the DCR infrastructure, he agreed to pilot a chemical-free alternative: the Sidon Integro™ system.

The Installation

After initially installing a traditional softener in March 2023—which required regular salt top-ups—John removed the unit just five months later. In August 2024, the Sidon Integro™ was installed. It took up less space and required no maintenance, and the installation was quick and straightforward.

The Results

After 90 days, John reported the following:

  • No noticeable drawbacks after removing the salt softener
  • No slick feeling on skin or laundry, which is common with over-softened water
  • No salt to purchase, store, or refill
  • No salty aftertaste, improving overall water experience
  • No change in dishwasher performance—minor spotting remained on hand-washed glasses, as expected

The Integro™ delivered the benefits of softened water—without the environmental impact, recurring maintenance, or ongoing costs.

“The Integro has performed as advertised. It’s less expensive, requires no upkeep, and is environmentally friendly—an ideal long-term solution for our community.” –  John, Professional Civil Engineer (Retired)

Why Sidon Integro™?

Unlike magnets, coils, or catalytic units that only reduce scale under ideal conditions, the Integro™ uses an electron-based process to disrupt ionic bonding, keeping minerals dissolved and preventing scale formation at all temperatures, pressures, and flow rates. This makes it ideal for long-term performance in real-world residential applications.

A New Standard for Homebuilders

Following its success at Dry Creek Ranch, the Sidon Integro™ is emerging as a go-to solution for sustainable residential developments, especially where salt discharge limits, energy efficiency, and homeowner convenience are priorities.

Sidon Water is now partnering with plumbing contractors and builders across the U.S. to bring this clean technology to more communities—complete with certified installer support and resources.
