Case Study
Overview
The Ciutat de la Justicia in Barcelona has transformed its water management system with the installation of the Sidon Water Integro™ system across ali water mains, including high and low groundwater and health networks, as well as building D’s water mains.
Key Problems
Before the lntegro™system was implemented, the facilityfaced several challenges dueto limescale accumulation:
- Valve Blockages: Loading and unloading valves in toilet water tanks frequently became blocked.
- lncreased Maintenance Costs: Continuous replacement of limescale-affected parts significantly raised expenses.
- Health Risks: Residues were favourable for the growth of harmful bacteria like legionella, posing health risks.
- Health Risks: Residues were favourable for the growth on ground floors, created operational disruptions.
Our Solution
A pilot test began on July 8, 2023, targeting the high groundwater network, yielding positive results within three weeks.
Following this success, the Integro™ System was installed throughout the facility over the next six months.
Summary & Results
The installation produced substantial benefits:
Cost Reduction: Maintenance costs decreased by 75% annually.
Sustainable Practices: The focus shifted from replacing parts to repairing them, optimising resources and minimising waste.
lmproved Cleaning Efficiency: Subsequent cleanings revealed no dirt accumulation, indicating effective mineral deposit management.
Health Benefits: Eliminating limescale improved cleanliness and reduced legionella risk.
The Integro™ system installation has proven to be a successful and sustainable solution far the Ciutat de la Justicia, resulting in lower maintenance costs, better health conditions, and significant environmental benefits. This project showcases the potential of the Integro™system to address longstanding facility challenges.
In 2024, the customer reported saving tens of thousands of euros in maintenance costs, representing a 75% reduction compared to previous expenditures. By reducing maintenance expenses by 75%, the system paid far itself in less than a year, an exceptional ROi, proving a highly cost-effective solution. Far the first time ever, they did not have to clean out limescale from their calorifiers during a scheduled service.
Enivronmental Benefits
The Integro™system also provided environmental advantages:
- Extended Equipment Lifespan: lmproved longevity of water-related equipment reduced the need far replacements
- Fewer Equipment Failures: Lower instances of failures decreased engineer visits and spare part demand, positively impacting the carbon faotprint.
- Enhanced Water Efficiency: Promoted better water usage sustainability.
